MeTV Subchannel Launches Animation Spinoff
Most American broadcast stations now have “subchannels,” listed as 4.1 or 12.3, that run schedules of ad-supported reruns. If you never knew, you evidently haven’t messed with your TV’s broadcast signal since the late 2000s, when these started cropping up. They can be a good way to pass the time as they air most of the classic TV shows from the past fifty years. One that might be of interest to Popgeeks readers is Comet, a subchannel devoted to sci-fi that has run Star Trek, Buffy, Stargate, Farscape, and most recently The X-Files and Grimm. But we’re not talking about Comet, we’re talking about MeTV, one of the original subchannels and creators of Toon In With Me, a revival of the old-school Saturday Morning format featuring classic theatrical shorts — the kind of thing that used to be on TV all the time. Toon In With Me has done so well for MeTV, they’re expanding it into its own separate subchannel. Introducing MeTV Toons, coming this summer! MeTV Toons will
Netflix Splits Cobra Kai’s Finale Into Three Finales
Cobra Kai seasons used to come out at a steady clip, one per year, but the series hasn’t produced a new episode for Netflix since the fall of 2022. It’s said that Season Six is meant to be the final season, so…what’s the holdup? No answers there, but today we at least got confirmation that the final season does, in fact, exist. New screenshots were released from the unrevealed episodes, as well as a timetable for when the finale is coming out. And….it’s gonna take its sweet time. Netflix has announced they’re splitting Season Six into three parts and airing them separately. They’ve done this in the past, first with Stranger Things Season 4, then the most recent season of The Witcher, and now Cobra Kai. There seems to be a pattern here — it only happens to their most popular shows. With Stranger Things, they claimed the break was because VFX work in the back half hadn’t been completed yet. This was confirmed to be true, but we doubt
Lost Media Found: Viral Tiktok Song Everybody knows that/Ulterior Motives finally found
“Everybody Knows That” (Fans call it EKT for short) is a mysterious 1980s song of unknown origin that went viral on TikTok and YouTube in 2021. A 17-second clip gripped people with its catchy New Wave sound, sparking immense curiosity about the song’s artist, origin, and potential existence of a full version. The mystery began on the song identification website Watzatsong. A user named Carl19 shared a snippet from an audio recording, inquiring about the song’s origin. The clip’s intriguing melody instantly captured listeners, leading to creative covers and speculation about a full version. This hypnotizing snippet became one of the most enduring internet mysteries, attracting a dedicated subreddit of online sleuths determined to uncover the song’s 1980s roots. After a three-year search, the song’s mysterious origins were finally identified just three days ago. The Everybody Knows That Subreddit just announced they finally found the song. Its real title is Ulterior Motives. It is a song written and sung by twin brothers Christopher Saint Booth and Philip Adrian Booth. The Booth brothers
The Boy And The Heron Comes To 4K Blu-Ray This July
While it might seem inevitable that Hayao Miyazaki’s latest would hit physical disc this year, what’s different is the format we’re talking about. The Boy And The Heron has been announced for DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K — the first Miyazaki film to be offered in a resolution that high. It’s true; none of the other Ghibli notables have hit 4K disc yet. Whether that’s because of rights issues or not, we don’t know, but this one’s new enough to have 4K as an option right from the start. There will be three editions of The Boy And The Heron available, each with two discs: DVD and Blu-Ray, 4K and Blu-Ray, and a limited edition Steelbook (with 4K and Blu-Ray). Each version will contain both the original Japanese track and a new English track starring the voices of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson and Florence Pugh. Special features will include feature-length storyboards, interviews with composer Joe Hisaishi and producer and Studio Ghibli
X-Men 97 Episode 6 – Picking up the Pieces
As X-Men 97 nears the conclusion of its electrifying first season, fans are treated to a series that masterfully blends nostalgia with a contemporary edge. Episode 6 took a momentary pause to explore Storm’s dramatic depowering and subsequent recovery, setting the stage for the introduction of the season’s formidable antagonist and building momentum towards a climactic finale. This series revitalization not only pays homage to the beloved 90s animated series but elevates it with a modern narrative intensity, capturing the hearts of both longtime fans and new viewers alike. With its fast-paced storytelling and a deep dive into the emotional and physical battles of its characters, “X-Men 97” promises to deliver an unforgettable end to its debut season. The first season of X-Men 97’s is inn the home stretch, and after a short breather in episode 6 to pick up on Storm’s depowering and later repowering, we finally get down to the business of setting up the season’s Big Bad and setting things in motion for the grand finale. The
A Review of the 3 Korean Films in the Vengeance Trilogy
Per IMDb, “the Vengeance Trilogy is a series of three Korean films: (1) Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), (2) Oldboy (2003), and (3) Lady Vengeance (2005), directed by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook. Each movie deals with themes of revenge, violence, and salvation.” (Because the movies contained so much graphic violence, my conscience would not let me rate them higher than 8 out of 10 stars. Nevertheless, these movies fall into the column on my watch list labeled “movie gems” that are “Old But Gold”.) ♦ (1) Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) A viewer may want to have sympathy for the main character Ryu. He is a deaf-mute man who wants to be a kidney donor to save his sister’s life. Besides the fact that he does not have the money to pay for the kidney transplant operation, the doctor also tells him that he is not a compatible donor. That means he needs to find a suitable donor. His desperation makes him turn to the black market to find an
Street Fighter, Final Fight Clash In New Comic
Back when fighting games ruled the land, Street Fighter was king of the mountain…but Final Fight was always nipping at its heels. Granted, they were technically two different genres (SF is a one-on-one tournament fighting game and Final Fight is a street brawler)….but they were similar enough that the two worlds colliding seemed inevitable. How come nobody thought of a crossover until now? We’re not sure, but here it finally is: Street Fighter Vs. Final Fight, a new one-shot comic due out this Saturday. “In this incredible issue by writer Chris Sarracini and UDON Artists Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz, Edwin Huang, Joe Ng, Panzer, the fantastic fighters of two titanic video game franchises collide… across multiple eras of fighting game history!” boasts publisher UDON. “This martial arts fueled-feud sees Street Fighters Ryu, Chun-Li, and and Guile square off against Final Fight’s Haggar, Guy, and Cody throughout stories that reach all the way back to Final Fight, and all the way up to the modern day Street Fighter 6 era!” We’ve got

“Military Prosecutor Doberman” was released in 2022, has 16 episodes, is categorized as Action, Crime, Mystery, Military Drama, and Comedy; and is streaming on both Viki and Netflix ♦ It’s Do Bae-man! NOT Doberman! In “Military Prosecutor Doberman”, there are two military prosecutors, each with their own hidden agenda. But they both seem to be on the same path, even though they answered their superior’s question differently. The superior asked Do Bae-man if he was a prosecutor or a service person. Of course, Do Bae-man said he was a service person because he knew that was what he wanted to hear. The superior asked Cha Woo-in if she was a prosecutor or a service person. Of course, Do Bae-man expected her to give the same answer he gave. He was surprised when she said she was a prosecutor. No matter how many times her superior asked the question, she did not change her answer. Do Bae-man decided not to be too concerned about Cha Woo-in and whether she would perform

Shadow Of The Depth Launches On Steam Early Access
Developer Chillyroom has launched the Early Access version of their dungeon-crawling roguelike, Shadow of the Depth, on Steam. From a top-down perspective, you’ll move through randomly generated levels using one of five playable heroes. As you explore and dive further into each unique dungeon, you’ll gain experience and collect over 140 passive abilities to become ever more powerful. Chillyroom hasn’t mentioned what the story is, so the reason WHY you’re doing this is unknown (besides the real-world reason of playing a video game). Here are the five characters you can pick from: Arthur, a melee warrior excelling in high defence at the expense of his agility, fights with a sword and shield, an expert in defensive manoeuvres. The son of a blacksmith, and seeking vengeance on the monsters that killed his father. An enigmatic sorcerer proficient in fire, frost and lightning magics, Stephanie boasts powerful attacks
